If you are talking about posts that you want to select and spotlight in the sidebar, you will have to do it with a text widget.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/text-widget-links/
You could use the recent posts widget, the top posts widget, the top rated widget or a text widget where you type in the links yourself so you have more control.
Another good method is to select a few of the posts you want to showcase and give them all a tag, for example: "featured". You can then grab the feed URL for this tag and use it in the RSS widget so the sidebar area will update automatically. You can get the feed URL by viewing your local tag page, copying the link in your browser's address bar and then adding /feed at the end.
You are already using a categories widget called "This Is What I’m Talking About!"
You can use a recent posts widget as well:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-posts-widget/
Or a recent comment widget:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-comments-widget/
(you can name either of those widgets "You may be interested")
And you might use a text widget to show random posts:
