    Thank you for your help.

I did set up a google account but now I'm having trouble trying to get google to verify my domain.

Where can I find the gooogle verification?

All email addresses are redacted on this forum. For using the @ in links in your blog please see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/#links-containing-the-at-sign-symbol
Also note a secure contact form is a far better choice to make than posting an email address which is going to be harvested by email harvesting spam bots and sold to spammers > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

To verify blog ownership with the major search engines there is a special process for thsoe with free hosted WordPress.com blog to use here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Also note that even if you fail to take this step your content will be indexed. See here for 10 factors that expedite indexing of your content by search engines.
Note that WordPress.com automatically provides XML Sitemaps for Search Engines - we bloggers do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines
