Ads on my blog...

  1. Paid $30 to remove ads from my blog, but the ads are still there. What gives??? When do they go away?

  2. Hello there,
When did you purchase the No-Ads upgrade please?
Is there any chance that what you are seeing is ads created by a browser add-on or extension? I'm asking because that's what others found. Please try logging out, clearing your browser cache and cookies, disabling all browser add-ons and extensions, clearing your browser cache and cookies, and then rebooting and logging in again. View your blog and tell us if you still see advertising or not.

  3. I purchased the No Ad upgrade today for $30.

The ads appear as words in the text of my blog that are highlighted with a link to an advertisement.

There also is an occasional ad that pops up in the lower right corner of my screen.

I'm sure these ads are all from WordPress.

Is there a time lag between when you purchase upgrade and when ads are removed?

Also is there a way I can contact WordPress and actually talk to a person?

You are wrong. They are coming from a browser add-on or extension. WordPress.com does not use text enhance or text link ads or pop-up ads. So far everyone who has reported this has had a browser-add-on or browser extension that causes it. In some cases it was enbedded into free games they downloaded from the internet. Please do as I described above.

  5. Here are some of the known sources of such ads caused by browser add-ons and/or extensions:
    AARP games and programs
    text enhance
    Shopping Sidekick
    Wajam

  6. Also could be some kind of Malware or Adware. Suggest you run a scan with something like Microsoft Security Essentials or Malwarebytes both of which are free.

  7. @notawoodpecker
    Good idea.

  8. Thank you. I did as you said and when into my Chrome tools settings, and removed or disabled unwanted extentions and add ons (there were some from some gaming site, I didn't know about). I also cleared my cache and history.

I think, I hope, that all is fixed now. In anycase so far I don't see the ads anymore.

I'll let you know if they pop up again.

Thank you for all your help.

  9. From what I've heard, gaming sites are almost as bad for this kind of thing as gambling/poker sites. Very low ethics.

  10. I have no idea how it got on my computer. I use Eset Security and am quite pleased with it. It catches most of the bad stuff before it becomes a problem.
