Advanced Dashboard customization

  1. I really like WordPress and am looking to use WordPress MU in an infrastructure for a new company I'm working on and I'd like to find a way to customize the admin dashboard. Most of the windows are totally useless for most applications, and for the use I have in mind are almost completely useless; how can I construct custom default Dashboard pages that utilize my own plugins and windows?

I know you can move the windows around, but without being able to save the layout that is kind of stupid. Anyway, the important thing is filling the dashboard with my own plugins and not the normal windows.

Can the admin be skinned? Maybe that is the key.
