I am trying to move from a self hosted wordpress blog to wordpress.org. I did the export/import with the standard built in tool, and it seems that almost everything was brought across with the exception of my post categories and post tags. The categories are available to select from, they just aren't associated to anything at the moment. Old site is still up here: dpollitt.net new site: pollittdavid.wordpress.com
The blog I need help with is pollittdavid.wordpress.com.
Additional detail: Old blog was on wordpress 3.2.1. I am crafty enough to mess with the XML/export file as directed. Would it help to post a portion of that?
Everything is showing up as "uncategorized" right now. Nothing falls outside of that.
I did find a section like this that looks like a somewhat correct tag/category to me:
<category domain="post_tag" nicename="photography"><![CDATA[Photography]]></category><br />
<category domain="category" nicename="photography"><![CDATA[Photography]]></category>
