akismet says all my comments are spam

  1. Akismet has said almost all of the comments I have received on my blog are spam, how do I solve this? For example one comment was in another
language but when I translated it, it was a real comment. What should I do if there is anything I can do?

The blog I need help with is onesinglelady.wordpress.com.

  2. Moderate you comments. Check the ones in the spam flter and if they are not spam approve them. In time Akismet will learn how to distinguish them.

  3. Is there any way to get those comments back?

  4. Not if they're deleted. If they're in Spam, you can just Un-Spam them by clicking Approve.

  5. thank-you for the help!

  6. @onesinglelady
Four things that you may not know about spam.
    (1) Over 80% of the comments sent to this wordpress.com domain every day are spam. (2) the most malicious kind of spam received will not be sent to you to examine in your Moderation queue. It contains viruses and malicious code etc. and could bring down that lot of blogs if you open it.
    (3) There are now human beings who are hired to post spam comments. They objective is for them to get a spam link on your blog.
    (4) Those who are new to blogging are desirous of receiving comments and lack the skills to be able to detect human generated spam. It's common for me to visit new blogs and find the bloggers have posted spam comments.

  7. Oh wow, I just realized from what you said that one of the comments that I had on my blog was spam, for that same reason- to get a link on my blog. I didn't know that, thank-you for the information.

  8. You're welcome. In time you will get better at being able to spot them. :)
