Am I allowed to post a referral link on WordPress?

I was wondering....am I not allowed to post a Swagbucks referral link on my blog? I attempted to, and even attempted to just post their website with a link, and the links keep redirecting to a page called "Types of Blogs".

The blog I need help with is glutenfreelyfrugal.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi. I believe you'll find the answer by carefully reading the "types of blogs" page in question.

  3. That's the ToS department. The reason you see that happening is because the links you are posting are not allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. Read the types of blogs allowed and not allowed page very carefully.

In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

If you have any further questions about advertising and/or affiliate links and/or ecommerce on a free blog from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM please contact Staff directly using this link when support opens tomorrow. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

If you do require an ecommerce site, advertising and/or affiliate links you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org Refer to > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  7. Hi, I am well aware that affiliate links are a big no no on the free wordpress.com platform. But what happened if I tweet my affiliate links to appear through a widget and show it on the blog? I assume it does not affect wordpress.com in any way but then again I wouldn't know if Im permitted to do that. Help pls? Thanks in advance !

  8. That's a Staff decision. When the Support contact form opens again, drop them a line.

This would also be considered a violation of the Terms of Service.
