Am I missing something?

  1. I am trying to add google analytics, site meter, and feed burner tracking codes to my new Word Press blog.

Friends of mine who have word press blogs but older versions of word press can cut and paste the code in their header and footer boxes and begin tracking. I haven't been able to find this feature though, and as such have been attempting to edit the CSS to add the code.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to save the tracking code in the CSS because I haven't purchased the custom CSS upgrade.

My question is whether or not I am required to purchase this upgrade in order to track my blog using google analytics, site meter, etc, or if I am simply missing something and trying to paste the code in the wrong place.

Also, it should be noted, I have yet to download Word Press 2.7 since I do most of my updating from work, I'm not sure if that would be a reason for the issue.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated

The blog I need help with is marcsgchat.wordpress.com.

  2. Since there doesn't seem to be a search section on the front page of the forum, I clicked on the google analytics tag to find the answer to GA.

However, I am still interested in knowing if I have to purchase the CSS editor in order to post my site meter code.

On a somewhat unrelated point, I also was hoping to increase the width of the post section of the theme I am using (Cutline theme, and here is a link to the blog, http://marcsgchat.wordpress.com/). Am I going to need to buy the CSS editor to do that?

    Thanks again for any help.

  3. Hello marcsgchat,

you can use the text widget to put the site meters plain HTML in
to track stats for your site meter acoount.

Via WordPress.TV > Text widgets - a quick way to add text, links and images to your sidebar

Correct you'll need to purchase the CSS upgrade to be able to Change the width
    of the theme.

"PLEASE NOTE" their is no official support for CSS here in the forums.
It is best to have basic knowledge of CSS or learn CSS before you consider bying the
    purchasing the CSS upgrade
