American dream

American dream - to become rich and successful by invading countries for oil, security and restructuring contracts (also shared with UK politicians).
Personal dreams - like the above, but without the invading, oil, security and restructuring agenda.
Unless you work for BP.
-
This should help.
-
@tltcl return to your tent or mud-hut and re-evaluate your non-success. quit railing on dreams because you are an underachiever. and let you stand corrected when i say.
American Dream---is the beleif that anyone can achieve anything, including the discontinuation of invading countries for oil.
Personal Dream---involves lotion and napkins. for the record i bet tltcl has in-depth knowledge of personal dreams.

Just a personal observation from looking around the forums today, but did johnny get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning lol
-
American dream is to be rich and fat. So fat that you can roll over and kill many babies with said fat.
-
Oh Johhny, it was just a joke! And for your information, I have led a fairly successful life and I am about to train to be a forensic psychologist. I don't 'rail' on dreams, it's good to have goals. The only time I rail is when I take the train home.

Actually, Johnny demonstrates the classic "attack the man and not the ball" syndrome so common in this day and age! :)

The "American dream" is different things to different people. To many generations of immigrants to the United States, the American dream meant freedom from starvation, freedom from oppression, escape from war, genocide, or crushing poverty.
The "American dream" is an ideal -- it means that people who come here to live their lives, or those born here, strive to achieve it. It doesn't mean that the ideal is done, achieved, real -- except on a small level. A family from a country ravaged by genocide who resettled here may find their American dream achieved when the first child graduates from an American high school.
I've always thought that the American dream is best described as the many dreams of many individuals who believe that coming to the United States will allow them some kind of life that they could not lead elsewhere. (And I'm never one to say that the U.S. is the best country there is, or that the U.S. policies, whether foreign or domestic, are always wise, fair, just, and democratic, or that there aren't plenty of American nightmares as well as dreams.)
The Taoiseach recently described Barack Obama as the American dream, the American dream returned to Ireland many generations after one of Obama's forefathers left Ireland to find the American dream. So there are many definitions of the American dream, but it's not the exclusive province of Americans -- it's human nature to want to have a better life yourself and to have a better life for your children after you. Just as, unfortunately, greed, violence, and cruelty can also be a part of human nature.
Personally, when I can, I prefer to think that in the end, the compassionate side of human nature will be more prominent than the cruel side, regardless of where on the planet a person is from or what culture they grew up in. But that's another ideal, something to be aspired to.

You said it well mmadfan. Thanks for your time out to express your in-dept comment concerning the matter of dreams and endeavor of spirit of the American dream.
-
Well, if a person is not American then their dreams would not be the American Dream, by definition.
-
Are you saying that those outside of America cannot seek an American dream as a model to their endeavor?
-
Yes, that is what I'm saying. By definition, that is the dream of Americans, not other people.
-
What about "Personal Dreams"in America that do not fit in the same mold as to achieve a money and material filled endeavor as a success.
Otherwise, dreams that don't require one to kill themselves trying to get over the hump. This also can be an American dream minus the headache and include God that the AMERICAN DREAM,seem to exclude .
I think mmadfan said some what to this thought when he said that many dreams in America. So i cane to the conclusion that the American dream is identified as a special treat and endeavor..........what goal would that be as a dream? -
All of Apostle Jack's posts are simply an attempt to stimulate discussion about God.
http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/why-i-am-no-longer-a-christian/
This is well worth watching.
-
I've noticed that about apostlejack too, tltcl- and good link for a response. Although the comments on that one are painfully hilarious at some points.
-
@tltcl All of my post are not about God,but about knowledge. It is true that God is the greater part of my life, but I don't seek to force God on anyone.Your stimulation is about your education and presentations in life of wherever you gathered them from,so I honor the source of mine came from in my presentations. Is something wrong with that?
@idiotphotographer I see that you feel the same way that your friend does....so that make you both have to reconsider. In all things...the end justify the means. -
This is just a reminder that this is an English speaking forum and that perforce does not mean we are all Americans. We aren't.
Moreover, we are all adults here and any attempt to evangelize on this forum will be an exercise in futility. That's why I urge you to publish your religious delusion on your blog where they can be appreciated by those who cling to fear and guilt based religions and TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it) prophecies.
-
I think it really depends... Every person has a personal dream or goal in life... purpose.
The American dream isn't necessarily different than any other country or body of people. The dream is to have a measured amount of success, now who measures it and why is also different. My personal dream is to one day have the means to take care of many many people and to propel others to do the same. Hopefully I can achieve that goal through music. That is my waking purpose everyday. The real question is, how do people go about realizing their dreams and goals, in America, in the rest of the World?Dreams can always be achieved in some way, shape or form, and I encourage everyone to chase and capture them. Viva la Vida!
:)

@timethief I feel what you are saying, but I have no intentions of spreading the word of God on this forum. My point is that this is call a Christian nation, and I was just wondering why, when it is not included in any dreams of America. That was my only reason for making a statement about God,...not that I wanted to take it any further than that.I think "personal dreams" would cover the matter concerning God.

If you click on the click that I provided, a nice man with much more intelligence and patience than me will help to clarify the issues of religion. If you truly watch it (which I doubt you will), then it will certainly give you food for thought.
Like TT, I would urge you to post your thoughts on your blog to stimulate debate, or else you may get offended by some responses on this forum. Your motives seem quite transparent, no matter what you claim.
-
You seem to be the one that want to talk about religion on this forum more than I do in stead of the"American Dream" .
If you want to discuss the matter of religion leave a comment on my blog "The Last One" and we will discuss the matter there, which also have a link to further give you a better understanding on the matter.
Your knowledge seem a little small to speak about intelligence.I have no desire to discuss the matter of God on this forum, which I think you and others on here seem to focus on God more than I do.
This is a post about the American Dream. If you will, try and focus on that.
And don't worry about my feelings I am prepared to take some and to give some on what you call responses.
I don't expect to hear anymore About God from those who have commented so far about how much I am focus on God,when all you seem to do is comment on it.
Take the subject of God to my blog"The Last One"..so that I can hear what others have to say about the dreams of America, which is what this forum is for. -
@kymleemurphy You explained it well on different dreams of America. You brought some good points about the subject.
I enjoyed reading your comment. It touched on many avenues of accomplishment concerning those dreams of both the American dream and personal dreams.
You said it very well. -
'I am the LAST of the MAJOR CELESTIAL SPIRITS OF THE ALMIGHTY’S ETERNAL GODHEAD that was chosen and appointed by Him to come forth to receive:”The Passing of the Staff”.'
WTF?! I think that you should explain that comment, taken from your blog, just so that we know who we are dealing with here. I mean, if we have direct contact with an almighty deity, then we can bow to your all-knowing comments and learn something.
-
You are on the wrong page, and the wrong post.I would be more than glad to share knowledge about the Almighty if you would make your comment on my blog.It seems as though you are purposely evading my blog to come here and post your comment about God.I will only tell you to go back to where you read that statement and make your comment there. This forum is about the American dream.
-
Okay, I will leave the comment on your blog!
-
And in the comments of this post is Apostle Jack's response. Which is interesting...
-
Good grief! Why are you promoting the ravings of a mentally disturbed person? It wants us to make contact. It wants comments. I say -- shun it!
-
I'm not American, but I have dreams. Do I count?
-
@ timethief Prejudging and name calling without proof nor evidence only show who is really mentally disturbed.
