Annual Registration Cost

  1. I realized after buying jayrickey.com with the WordPress Value Bundle that I can't run ads on my site. It seems the simplest solution would be to have my domain name registered with WordPress while having BlueHost actually host the site. How much will you charge to keep my site registered with you if I'm not using you as my host? Is it an annual cost?

The blog I need help with is jayrickey.com.

  2. We do have an advertising program called WordAds.
Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed.
There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.

The domain registration (including private registration) is $26 a year, without private registration it's $18 a year. Currently you have a $99 bundle. If you want I can cancel/refund the bundle and leave the domain registered under your account.

To point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), please follow the instructions here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/#changing-domain-name-servers

Note you will need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as "nameservers" or "NS records" instead.)

Hope this helps - let us know if you have any more questions!

  3. Hi Kardotim - thank you for your offer. Yes, I would like to keep my domain registered with you for $26/year. I am in the process of transferring the domain name to bluehost and using WordPress through them. What do you need from me for the refund?

  4. I've refunded ($73) the bundle excluding the domain registration. This guide explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar.
