   I'm thinking of hosting my blog elsewhere because I'm not a big fan of the changes to the commenting system on WordPress.com, but I still like WordPress' blogging software.

   Anybody know what the comments options are on WordPress.org? I want to enable anonymous comments (i.e. so that readers do NOT have to type in an email address) -- I don't want to have to use Disqus or Facebook comments, either.

   Is this option available on WordPress.org? -- to have anonymous comments?

   I see no one has responded yet. I do not have a direct answer. I went to the WordPress.org forums and did a quick search there and I believe you can allow anonymous comments. I don't think you can ask this in their forum yourself unless you are registered user of the org site.

   Maybe someone else knows from experience??

   There are still issues with WP.org sites if you use Gravatars.
