Appearance Editor

  1. I want to open the appearance editor to change the html of my site. I have no "editor" option in my appearance tab. How do I do this?

The blog I need help with is illinoistechadmission.wordpress.com.

  2. On a wordpress.com blog the answer is you can't do that.
    Please read http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Even when purchase an custom design upgrade you can't access the underlying HTML and PHP because this is a multiuser blogging platform. All blogs here wearing the same theme use the same template and only staff can access and edit.

Does the Custom Design upgrade let me edit HTML?
No. The Custom Design upgrade allows you to edit fonts, colors, and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup or PHP code. ... http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

  3. The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
    upload any third party themes,
    create child themes,
    create our own themes,
    edit templates,
    create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.

There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.
