Appearing on WordPress

    Hey guys! I was just wondering what I need to do in order to appear on either the "Freshly Pressed" or "Topics" Sites; in this example, on the Travel or Kilimanjaro Tags.

    Just posted something with the Tags Travel & Kilimanjaro and it does not show up there, for example here:

    http://wordpress.com/#!/read/topic/kilimanjaro/

    This is the post I'm talking about, shouldn't it come up there since I added the Tags?

    To appear on Freshly Pressed, you need to be the choice of the handful of editors of that page, out of about 35 million blogs. It's a completely arbitrary decision by a group of editors what they choose to feature.

    Hey, thanks for that! Is there any way to contact these to apply for the freshly pressed once I finished My Kili Blog?

    Also checked the reasons on the missing posts page, none of them apply so I'm very puzzled :(

    You don't apply. They choose what they want.

    As for the tag issue, lots of people are reporting the same. I'll flag this.

    Great, thanks for letting me know. I hope there will be a solution for it soon, but I doubt it will happen before Friday when I release my entry :( Was hoping for some bigger audience to reach here since the Showcase Forum is closed.

    I just re posted my last kili news to see if it would work today - still same result.

    This URL Shows a ton of new posts coming in every second, while

    http://wordpress.com/#!/read/topic/kilimanjaro/ (should match my tag)

    still shows an old one about kili.

    I really hope this can be fixed :(

    raincoaster and I have been here for over 6 years and we are here to tell you that the flow of traffic from the Topics pages in negligible at best. What's more? Well, I do believe there are so many posts being published at any time that the display of posts under the most popular Topics pages is probably randomized. It's search engines like Google that send significant flow of traffic to blogs.

    But there has not been a new entry for the Kilimanjaro tag for example, it should at least show up there?

    Just released my post and it does not show up in any of the 5 tags or the category :(

    Very sad, since it is hard to get some new readers if this does not work.

    Hi chrisontour84,

    Can you try looking at that topic again? Your latest blog post is there in the Reader, just about 5 or 6 posts down.

    Let me know if you still aren't seeing it.

    I see it as well. Wouldn't it be bizarre if there were a bug where you couldn't see your own posts on the tag pages?

    The trick is to reload the page -
    Publish your post.
    Quickly go the Reader.
    Click Explore topics. Find the correct topic. Click it.
    When the page loads, it should display your just published post - but sometimes the search can't be performed that quickly.

    If you don't see it at the top of the page or just a few items down.
    Click on Explore topics again. Find the topic you want and click it again.

    On the second pass, your post should be visible. I've done this for a few months now and it always works. I always find my posts.

    Just uploaded my 2nd part and this time everything worked without any problems! :) Got a lot of "likes" instantly, never had that before hehe.
