   Hi, how can I archive older posts & remove them from the main blog? I keep adding posts, and eventuallythe thing will get too long & load too slowly.

   Or is there an automatic mechanism to archive older posts??

   "Archives" is just sorting posts by month. Once you publish a post, it's immediately "archived". The default for your front page is 10 posts. If you want fewer than that, you can change it (Settings>Reading).
