Are protected posts via "Share this" links viewable w/o passwd?

  1. Some have claimed I'm allowing the general public to view my protected posts via "Share this" links placed on social sites. The claim is that a password is not needed for viewing the posts via link. Probably the claimants' browser options are set to "remember passwords"; claimants possess the password, had previously logged in, then claim that they are able to magically follow links on social sites to my posts.
I just want to make absolutely certain that it's them, and not anything on my end; is there any way to access a protected post, without possessing the proper password?

The blog I need help with is iagnyc.wordpress.com.

  2. There is no way of accessing a protected post without the password. If you like, go to twitter, post a link to such a blog post, copy the t.co shortcode that Twitter turns it into, come back here and paste it in, and I'll see if I can read the post.

  3. Well, I won't because I'm going offline, but someone else can check.

  4. Thanks, here's what twitter coughed up:

  5. No worries then. I get:

    Protected: Coming Soon, . .

This post is password protected. To view it please enter your password below

  6. Yup, I also just tested the twitter link. I did similar tests with friends for Facebook and Linked In, w/ same result. Thanks very much for the reassurance.

  7. You're welcome.
