Are views from Contributors reflected in the stats?

  1. According to the docs, "Your own visits to your blog (for logged-in users of public blogs only)" are not reflected in the stats.
Does this apply to users who are Contributors?

  2. Yes. If they are logged in their visits are not recorded. If they are not logged in their visits are recorded.

  3. Thanks for the prompt reply (sorry for my late one).
Will they be counted if I "demote" them to Follower status?

  4. If they are logged in wordpress.com bloggers their visits will be recorded. if they are not logged in WordPress.com bloggers then they won't be.

Please just state what your actual concern is and what you think the best case scenario for you would be.

  5. Sorry, I'm usually better at making my situation clear.

I'm planning to get a few of my friends to do some guest posts and I wanted to know how their inclusion as Contributors would affect the site stats. They don't blog, so I figured this would be a good way to get them started.
With this info, my plan is now to make them Contributors and allow them to see the site stats for a few weeks to monitor their post's views, then demote them to Followers.

"if they are not logged in ... then they won't be."
I'm sure you mean they will be? As far as I know, WordPress.com won't know who you are if you're not logged in.

    Thanks for the help!

  6. Yikes! I said that wrong. "Your own visits to your blog (for logged-in users of public blogs only)" are not reflected in the stats.
