Are we hurt by black hat SEO sites linking to our blogs?

  1. Is SEO for our blogs hurt when content farms and other black hat SEO methods link to our blogs? I see these links in spam and backtracks. I delete them so my blog is not linking to these sites. But they have links to my blog -- links unwanted by me! Does anyone know, will this hurt our blogs in SEO, for example with how Google is now penalizing content farms?

The blog I need help with is indiapiedaterre.com.

  2. Everything posted to our blogs including comments, trackbacks and pingbacks affects our blog's brand either positively or negatively. We cannot control who links to our posts and links that do not appear on our blogs cannot harm them.

We can control what's posted on our blogs. I moderate every comment. I mark all spam trackbacks and spam comments I receive as spam.

Yes, Google is finally acting to reduce duplicate content churned out from comment farms. I blogged about this. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/02/24/google-routs-out-content-farms/

  3. I should have added something to this sentence above. "We cannot control who links to our posts strong> or to our pages or to our site and links that do not appear on our blogs cannot harm them.
