Arrange the Widgets

  1. I am in the process of setting up my blog but I am noticing one of the widgets has disappeared. I arranged the widgets in the following order: Follow blog, Recent Posts, Archives, Categories (in side bar 1) and Tags (in side bar 2). Although I am seeing everything in the Widgets section, if I go to my blog, the "Recent Posts" is missing. I noticed it disappeared since I started adding on the other widgets. Please help!

The blog I need help with is cubscoute.wordpress.com.

  2. Every theme has a "default sidebar display" which does not contain actual widgets. If your change theme or the first time you move a single widget in any theme here > Appearance > Widgets the "default display" which does not contain actual widgets disappears.

Simply go here > Appearance > Widgets and drag and drop the widgets you want to use into place. Click each one to open it, configure it if required, click save and click close.

I recommend using the step by step tutorial prepared by Staff. There's a link to it on the bottom of your Admin page http://learn/wordpress.com

  3. Thank you for your response Timethief.

I clicked on every widget to ensure that it is labelled and in the place where I want it to be. I don't like to drag since my mouse loves to run away from my hand so I have enabled the setting where you can just click on Add. I have done this process three times and yet, the Recent posts is still not showing up on the blog. But the interesting thing is, if I try to add it again, it will show up as added twice on the Widget screen but still not appearing on the blog itself. Please help!

  4. Your blog is private we Volunteers cannot view it. No widget can display any data that does not yet exist. So if your have no Recent Posts published as yet or if you did not open it and configure the widget and save then it will have nothing to display. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-posts-widget/

  5. Sorry about that. I am just exploring all the features that WordPress has to offer. Anyway, I understand that I have not posted anything as yet but just to add the widget, Recent posts, I think it suppose to show up on the blog. The Follow My Blog, Archives, Categories and Tags are there and I have not even invited anyone to view my blog nor have I posted anything but the Archives is showing as well as the tags. I tried something. I deleted all the widgets to start all over again because I thought maybe I did not save the widget but the weird thing is, the same exact thing happened. Everything is there on the blog: Follow my blog, Archives, Categories and Tags but not Recent Posts. Am I missing something here?

  6. Am I missing something here?

I'm working in the dark. Only Staff have backend access to blogs. If you wish I'll flag this thread and they will view the blog in question.

  7. Thank you Timethief. I will wait for staff to take a look at it......

  8. I have now flagged this thread for Staff attention. Please be patient while waiting.

  9. Thanks again Timethief..........

  10. The Recent Posts widget won't be visible until you have published at least one post.

  11. That's really strange. Thank you Macmanx.

  12. You're welcome!

  13. @macmanx
Thanks for confiming that my answer above was correct.

  14. Glad I could help. :)
