I have bunch of text/binary files that i want to zip and attach to my blogs. How can this be done?

Zip files aren't included. You can upload zip files in a free file hosting site instead, and link to them in your posts.
@imakimak, what you can do is upload them to a third-party file hosting service such as fileden or box.net and then put the link to those files in your posts/pages/sidebar (via a text widget). WordPress.COM even has a box.net widget that you can use.
I had the same question actually... I've got some original screenshots and custom game content that I'd like to share with others. I'll have to take a peek at box.net. Thanks!
