Auto Focus Issues - Picture Distortion and Alignment

  1. Hi WordPress staff,

I'm having a lot of issues with my auto focus blog. I've tried trouble shooting based on other advice from the forums and site and it doesn't seem to be working. There are two issues I'm facing.
    Here is my blog: http://thefreshfeed.com/

    1. Header: I want to have my menu on the side which it starts out as when you just have the text. There is a blog I follow that has managed to do this that is also using the same blog. There site is: http://www.greenkitchenstories.com/ Can you please tell me how to make it so the menu options appear to the right and not below.

    2. Front Page Images: I have tried scaling these images in word press but they seem to distort and align at awkward areas. The same blog: http://www.greenkitchenstories.com/ Is able to upload pictures to fit each square and make sure that they are not blown out and distorted, can you please suggest how I can get the same look. If you look to the click through page of my post my pics are high res. ( http://thefreshfeed.com/2012/11/22/super-foods-on-a-bed-of-warm-quinoa/)
Just not sure why they distort, stretch out and align weirdly.

    Thanks for your help.

    Best,
    Jackie

The blog I need help with is thefreshfeed.com.

  2. 1. Header: If you want your menu to appear at the top right, follow these instructions from the Theme's Showcase page

You may also customize your site navigation by creating your own Custom Menu. If you decide to hide your site title and description, AutoFocus’ menu will automagically change from a vertical display to a horizontal orientation. This is especially useful in the case of large site menus.

    2. I looked at your site using Chrome23 and I do not see any distorted featured images on the front page of your site. The site you mention is not hosted on WordPress.com and therefore you cannot compare the two.

More importantly, try uploading your featured images to your WordPress.com site rather than hotlinking them from tumblr and see if that makes a difference.

You don't mention which browser you are using. WordPress.com works best on up-to-date browsers like Chrome23 and FF 17. If you need to update your browser, you can do so here http://browsehappy.com/

  3. Hi Jennifer.

    Thanks for your response.

I have also tried uploading featured images instead of the tumblr and they are still looking blurry. What I mean by distorted is that that photo looks stretched. You can see the original photo if you click through and read the post. The image is much sharper there. Also it doesn't show the whole image but rather a corner of it. For instance the challah post is completely cut out and you only see a corner. Do you know how to make it so the whole picture shows. Do I need to pre measure in photoshop or another similar program before uploading. The only issue with that is that even if it fits on the homepage when you go to the post it will show as a small photo at the top of the post.

I am using Safari, but downloaded Chome 23 and still see the issue.

Will check out the other solution of Theme showcase and report back. But still need help on the second question.

    Thanks
    Jackie
