I think plenty are familiar with this particular theme, http://allancole.com/wordpress/themes/autofocus/
It is a GREAT photoblog theme, and wordpress.com needs one. Mono/Duotone were good starts, but too basic. Autofocus brings a bit of sophistication while still feeling very clean and sleek.

Autofocus is actually a child theme for Thematic, so WP would have to secure use of both. Autofocus can only be used with The Thematic Theme Framework.
It's nice though. Perhaps WP will adopt both.
