Autofocus theme: can't read posts

    We've just switched to AutoFocus theme and are having trouble reading our own posts. The home page looks great, but if you click on a story you'll see there isn't enough contrast between type and background to make it legible. With a dark background, the headline disappears. With a light background, the text disappears. If there was a way to at least match the text and headline colors, we'd be able to find a background to make both legible. (Tried making headline boldface - that just made it bigger, but no bolder.)
    Any help would be appreciated ...

    The blog I need help with is thepointfitchburgstate.wordpress.com.

  2. Oops! All CSS editing is theme specific and you forgot to post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question. Please do that now.

  3. I believe this the blog you are referring to > http://thepointfitchburgstate.wordpress.com Would you like to link it to your username? Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

  4. Do you have the custom design upgrade?

  5. I see you have custom fonts, but if you were grandfathered in then you would not necessarily have the Custom Design Upgrade. The following is the CSS you would need to change the colors.

    Most of the now grey text (non-link)

    body {
    color: #777777;
    }

    Link text including menu items

    a {
    color: #111111;
    }

    Post/page header text (titles)

    h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6 {
    color: #444444;
    }

    The color for h1-h6 above would also change the color of any text you have in posts that use the h1-h6 formatting.

    I appreciate the help, but I'm afraid that your suggestions may be over my head. I attempted the CSS trial, but had no idea what to do other than to paste the changes you gave me in the box; when I hit preview, the page looked the same as it had before. I'm willing to upgrade, but I'm afraid I'd just be upgrading to something I don't know how to use. I had been hoping the change could be made within the theme.

    As Plan B, if I were to try the custom fonts, would I be able to simply change to the same fonts the theme uses now, but in a solid color that shows up better?

    Again, thanks so much for the help - I know that CSS is worth learning, but as a practical matter it will be a while before I have the time to devote to it and I'd like the blog to look its best sooner than that.

  7. You would have to edit the hexadecimal color codes and change them to the colors you want. What is shown above are the current theme colors.

    After editing the color codes, when you preview you may have to force refresh the preview page. Some browsers are a little reluctant to go out and get the changed CSS.
