I'm sorry but there is no means of doing this automatically at wordpress.com
I recommend placing "thanks for submitting your information. We will contact you within the next 24 hours" on the static page for the contact form just above the form itself. Alternatively you could place a notice in a text widget and display it in your sidebar.
