How can I add the Google Translate widget to my blog - apassionforwalking.com? Do I have to self-host? Would that change my URL?

The blog I need help with is apassionforwalking.com.

  2. There is no FTP access and we cannot install plugins because this is a multiuser blogging platform ie. our blogs are not free standing and there are security issues that would arise if that access were allowed. Google translation widgets are Javascript and it's stripped out to preserve security on this mutiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

I have translation on my WordPress.com blogs. There are two workarounds and you will find them here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/02/14/translation-widget-for-wordpress-com-blogs/

Thanks you for your reply. I shall be glad to look at the two workarounds. I understand from the WordPress Support site that if one self-hosts from a source other than WordPress.com, then what I am looking for is possible. First, I would have to download the WP application to my computer and publish using FTP through some other host. There are many blog hosts out there, even one which I use for a couple of websites. Tanks again.

  4. Yes there is FTP access to WordPress.org installs and you can install plugins. There's a very good comparison found here > WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences
