paulkilgourI'm trying to upload an avatar, but I keep getting a thick black border around it. And I have no idea why. How do I get rid of this? It seems that a lot of things have become unecessarily difficult in WordPress recently.

What size is the Avatar file? That usually happens if it's smaller than the space alotted.

100 X 100 pixels at 72ppi.

Mine is enormous. Try something larger, or simply stretch it, as it is going to be squashed back down anyway.

Try 200x200 or something.
