For some reason, avatars are not working in my Recent Comments widget. It only shows the default "head and shoulders" avatar for everyone. The avatars show up just fine in my comments. Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there a workaround to fix it?

It looks like you have other people's avatars showing up in the Recent Comments widget. That doesn't work for me. No avatars show up. :-(

hmm... i think this happens with the comments sometimes. it will probably only be temporary.
None of the commenter, except for you appear to be hosted at wordpress.com. Avatars will only show up for people who have an account here at wordpress.com and only if they are logged in. None of your commenters have URL's tied to their usernames from wordpress.com. One is from flickr, one is from blogspot, and two don't have a URL connected to their names at all. Since you don't have an avatar showing up here in the forums, I would assume you do not have an avatar uploaded.
It won't show up unless you make one and upload it, and people who do not have an account at wordpress.com will not have avatars.
It's odd, though, that their avatars show up in the comments sections... just not in the widget. Is this works-as-designed?

The above was for modernwoodshop, but taskf0rc354, you do not have an avatar showing up here in the forums either. Have you made and uploaded one?

I signed up for A acct: today username only I'm A (co-blogger/editor) for http://gamingnewshq.wordpress.com and I did upload A piture but it's not showing up the owner of the blog helped me upload A picture and he's stumped to on this. and can'tfigure out way It display.
I've noticed that the widget will record your avatar even if you're signed out, while the comment thread will not. Not sure if that helps, but it IS more info.

In light of the previous comment I want to clarify that avatars do show for WP.com users if they are signed out yet leave their WP.com blogs as the URL. I can only assume this has something to do with the Gravatar purchase, but I am guessing.
I'm seeing the same problem - when some people leave comments on my blog, their avatar is displayed with their comment but is not displayed in the Recent Comments widget. Check dadshouse.wordpress.com to see this. The avatar for Lance shows up with the comment, but not in the widget.
