Backing Up my WordPress.com Site/Content

  1. Hello,

From what I understand, there is a "plug-in" for WordPress.org users that allows them to backup their WordPress site in case the site is hacked, etc.

Is there any protection for this for Worpress.COM users? Are there any precautions I should take to backup my site or to make a hack less likely? I thought there might be plugins available for .COM users as well.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

The blog I need help with is coloradooutdoorsmag.wordpress.com.

  2. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot upload plugins into them. We can use the export function. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

  3. Are there any precautions I should take to backup my site or to make a hack less likely?

I've been here 6 years and have yet to see a free histed WordPress.com blog that was actually "hacked". Every case I have seen where blogger alleged "hacking" has been one where the blogger did not adhere to the security measures > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/

If you wish you can use an offline blog editor. Using one provides a backup on your own compueter or every post and page you create in it and publish to your blog from it.

  4. Thanks again "timethief" for your help!!! You always seem to have all the correct answers. By the way, are you as cute as your Avatar? ;)

  5. No I have wrinkles and laugh lines that the avatar doesn't depict. :)
