   Advertising is not permitted on Wordpress.com blogs - if you want to use your blog to make money you really need to be using the self hosted version Wordpress.org.

   http://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/adsense which also refers to banner ads. Paid advertising is not allowed except on blogs approved for the VIP program.
