Am on the point of creating new website( more than blog) with attractive static landing page and easy navigation. Have purchased the pro upgrade ( for video and audio later). I would like maximum design flexibility. My existing site is twenty Eleven but is there a more suitable one, and if so what makes it so?

Theme selection is so subjective it's hard to say, but you might look at some of our magazine-style themes. If that fails, a look through the Theme Showcase as a whole is a good place to start.
You can set a static home page with any theme by following these instructions.
