Better way to add Categories?

  1. Name: David D. Robbins Jr.
    Wordpress.com blog: theirbatedbreath.wordpress.com/
Question: Is there a better way to add categories than having to go into each post, add a category and then save? I run a music blog and want my categories not to be the general genre, but the band names themselves. I'm having to go back and do this with all the previous 300-plus posts I neglected to do it with when I first started the blog. (Yeah, I know, shame on me.) Anyway, the quick edit doesn't work for this. And going to "posts", subfolder "categories" really is a pain for this too? Can anyone think of a better/easier/faster way OR am I just going to have to buckle down and do it the old-fashioned way? Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is theirbatedbreath.wordpress.com.

  2. Go to posts > post categories and you can add them all there ahead of time if you wish.

Then you can use the "quick edit feature on the posts > posts page to add the new categories and deselect the older ones.

  3. Yeah, not a bad idea. I think you might be right. That seems like the best way to get it done. Thanks. You're always very helpful. I appreciate you taking the time!

  4. Actually that link doesn't cover the quick edit. In posts > posts, hover your mouse over the post title, click the quick edit link and you can then select the new category and then deselect the old category. Then click the update button.
