Bigrock Email DNS Settings

  1. I have mapped my yallaah.wordpress.com to newly purchased domain name from bigrock-http://yaallah.in.
    As usual my webmail email on bigrock stopped working, I have been trying for two weeks but seems hard to resolve.

    This is what I have entered in wordpress DNS settings:

    CNAME webmail webmail.mailhostbox.com.
    A mail 173.193.105.244
    A webmail 173.193.105.244
    MX 100 webmail.yaallah.in.

    Email DNS settings given by bigrock are:
    MX entry-

    yaallah.in. 86400 IN MX 100 us2.mx3.mailhostbox.com.
    yaallah.in. 86400 IN MX 100 us2.mx1.mailhostbox.com.
    yaallah.in. 86400 IN MX 100 us2.mx2.mailhostbox.com.

    CNAME Record-
    pop.yaallah.in. 86400 IN CNAME us2.pop.mailhostbox.com.
    imap.yaallah.in. 86400 IN CNAME us2.imap.mailhostbox.com.
    smtp.yaallah.in. 86400 IN CNAME us2.smtp.mailhostbox.com.
    webmail.yaallah.in. 86400 IN CNAME us2.webmail.mailhostbox.com.

    TXT Record Configuration-
    yaallah.in 86400 IN TXT ""v=spf1 redirect=_spf.mailhostbox.com""

    Please suggest ASAP what should be entered and in what exact format?

    The blog I need help with is yaallah.in.

  2. I'm afraid this is all I can find for you. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/ Your email provider is not on that list. Note that WordPress.com itself does not have mailservers, which is why you need to use a different mail provider.

  3. It looks like you have extra stuff - if your host sent you all that extra stuff they are not helping you - also did they send you the IP numbers?

    This is all it took to get the mail working for my site

    MX 10 mail.my-site.com.
    A mail 255.255.255.255

    But keep in mind that every email host is a bit different

    I will also flag this for the staff to see if they have a suggestion for you

  5. My best guess is that it is ONE of the two shown below - but I would go back to you email host and ask them for some clarification - you have different values and different names - the host should not have given you different names - only one will work

    MX 10 mail.yaallah.in.
    A mail 173.193.105.244

    OR

    MX 10 webmail.yaallah.in.
    A webmail 173.193.105.244

    The staff have more experience than I at this

  8. it can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet - during that time operation tends to be erratic - every time you change ANYTHING the clock starts over - changing things for a few minutes is useless

    Go back to the email host and ask for help - they owe you a simple answer - that is why you are paying them - right? If my host would have given me the junk yours did I would have left and found someone that knew what they are doing -

    Also see what the staff here have to say and if they have more questions for your email host

    Wordpress has mentioned sample records-

    MX 10 MAIL1.EXAMPLE.COM.
    MX 20 MAIL2.EXAMPLE.COM.
    TXT v=spf1 include:mail.example.com ~all
    CNAME autodiscover EXCHANGE.EXAMPLE.COM.
    A webmail 1.2.3.4
    SRV _xmpp-client._tcp 10 10 5269 example.com.

    This is what I entered in DNS settings of my wordpress site after your suggestions and added on my own:

    CNAME 86400 us2.webmail.mailhostbox.com.
    A webmail 173.193.105.244
    MX 100 us2.mx1.mailhostbox.com.
    MX 100 us2.mx2.mailhostbox.com.
    MX 100 us2.mx3.mailhostbox.com.
    TXT ""v=spf1 redirect=_spf.mailhostbox.com""
    Almost 3 hours now, I will wait more. I called bigrock support they are asking my wordpress blog http://yaallah.in IP.
    Could you help?

The WordPress SAMPLE records are just that SAMPLES - to show you the format of different types of records - I doubt if ANY system requires all of those records - don't stuff you data where it does not fit - my email works fine with ONLY TWO records as shown above - what looks like your insistence of filling out endless records just because there is a "sample record" will break everything

    It looks like your MX records may be correct (nothing stands out as wrong, and the code verifies). Please allow up to 72 hours to see if they work. If not, we can look into them further for you.
