Hello - We have people who have subscribed we don't want to receive our updates. (Competitors!!) Short of going "Private" - how can we block specific people from receiving email updates when we post? Please help - as this is the one area where you excellent folks have not helped us with to date, and it is critical! Many thanks! VK

You cannot block anyone from subscribing to a blog that has a "public" setting. What's critical is not who reads the blog. Every WordPress blog has built in RSS feeds for mboth posts and fro comments and anyone can use a feedreader to read your posts. As the blog is "public" and you offer email subscriptions any member of the public can subscribe. However, you can control which comments are moderated, approved and appear on your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/
HI Thief! Thanks for your help!! I knwo can coantrol Comments - that is not the question - it is having certain subscribers. Two questions, then:
1. If we switch "private", who gets the post updates? (Doesn't that also go against the poitn of the blog which is to build interest in the comany??)
2. What aobut if we eliminate the "subscribers" widget (and thus the actual subscribers) and just email link to blog to those we want to receive and then if the "public" views, well at least we dont' have them on "our" list? What recommend??

Your competitors have or will figure out shortly that you have a web site - as you should find your competitors sites - how about putting down what you have done and success stores and don't ever put anything about what your new strategies will be? -
I can subscribe to your RSS feed and there is not a single thing you can do nor will you ever know that I have subscribed - taking the email widget away just saves you from seeing the address of a competitor in the list - it will not keep them from subscribing to your site.

I already answered that above. A public blog is public and anyone can subscribe to the RSS feeds.
