Blog connected to another website

  1. I was approached by a company, dwellable.com, asking to link my blog to their Hawaii rentals page. They have asked me to insert a link to their site and that they would include a link back to my wordpress blog for doing this. Is this allowed? Isn't this me advertising for them? Does this jeopardize my blog?

The blog I need help with is salmonfishingqueen.wordpress.com.

  2. I am approached by email every day several times a day but the answer is "no". Sponored posts and paid posts are not allowed. Morever, aside from a blog being accepted into WordAds, no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.com

  3. What's being proposed is a link exchange between a non-commercial site and a commerical site. Reciprocal linking is not a great idea. Google favors "natural links". If your web pages and the site get a lot of reciprocal (two-way links), especially if they are not related then the search engines will assume that these are solicited links, and search engines do not give much importance to such two-way or reciprocal links and may even penalize your site.

  4. Thanks Timethief! I did not want to do anything that would jeopardize my blog! Have a great day, you are the best!
