blog displays characters not in post

I have this character appearing on my blog page beside each post. I tried emptying cache and deleting cookies and rebooting. Displays the same in IE and Firefox. Doesn't seem to want to disappear. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it part of the closed forum on how blog design was displaying? Thanks

The blog I need help with is thisisthewayitis.wordpress.com.

  2. I dont have a clue what character you are referring to. Please post screenshot, upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it. I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

I don't have a clue if I'm doing this correctly but the file name is Mystery Character.jpg. Thanks

  4. Aha! I think you mean the default gravatar. Go to > Settings > Discussion and scroll down to the bottom "Avatars" section. Do you see that image there?

I have the same problem. I use the same theme as yours on my blog (http://greenlivingottawa.wordpress.com). I've sent a message to user support but so far they've replied that the character is built into the theme and can't be modified through settings. (They've suggested purchasing a Custom Design upgrade or changing the theme, since the Connections theme has been retired.)

  6. No, I can see it: it's an opening square parenthesis, and it shouldn't be there. There's a problem that got into your theme somehow.

I followed the above instructions and do not see the symbol that appears on my blog in the "Avatars" section.

  8. Oh! Thanks so much raincoaster because I now know what thisistheway123 means. Staff will have to deal with this.

Thanks Green Living Ottawa. It's such a small thing but still it's that little speck that should be there. I didn't know that the Connections theme has been discontinued.

  10. Hi there, thanks for letting us know! This is a little bug that just recently showed up in the Connections theme. I reported it to our team so they can clean it up. Thanks again for reporting the issue!

Hello, The strange little character that mysteriously appeared on Connections theme blogs has just as mysteriously disappeared. Thanks WordPress for you help. It was just one of those little annoying things - hopefully it will stay disappeared.
