Blog stats widget

  1. I would like to use this widget IF I could find it on my hosted blog, could someone tell me which widget this is I have searched wordpress.org and here.

All it does is show how many hits your blog got which is something simple, I dont really need all the bells and whistles and glitter.

    Thanks in advance
    MichaelBB

  2. As far as I know this simple hit counter "Blog Stats" has not yet been made available for use on regular wordpress.org blogs. If it has been and that slipped by my notice then it would be listed among the plug-ins over at wordpress.org.

  3. Ok so which "simple hit counter" would I download thats a widget? and incorporate in my blog?

  4. Could it be that your are actually looking for the "stats plugin" that was just released rather than the "blog stats widget"? http://wordpress.com/blog/2007/05/06/stats-plugin/
If this is what you're looking for then you'll have to wait until Monday to contact Mark as there is no staff support at wordpress.com, except for urgent matters on weekends.
    {email munged to deter spam bots - support at wordpress dot com}

  5. As to downloadable widgets or plugins, we here at the WordPress.com help forum can't help you at all. We're volunteers who have blogs hosted at WordPress.com and as such don't download our own themes, plugins or widgets. Staff handles all of that.

  6. @rain
    Click the "stats plug-in" link.

    Matt says:
We now have a plugin that allows you to get WordPress.com stats no matter where you host your blog.

I think this is yet again one of those situations like API keys where support is said to be available from this wordpress.com forum, even though we volunteers cannot provide it and only staff can.

  7. I don't see "Support is available at the WordPress.com forum" anywhere there.

After all, if we don't provide it, it won't be.

  8. *lol* I didn't see that statement either but I do think it's implied. And you're right, if we can't provide it, then staff is the only alternative.

  9. This is from wordpress.org. Matt posted on it 4 minutes ago http://wordpress.org/support/topic/118439

  10. I'll stick to the original question so as NOT to interrupt your conversation on MY post.

  11. @michaelelbb

    You're original question is:

I would like to use this widget IF I could find it on my hosted blog, could someone tell me which widget this is I have searched wordpress.org and here. All it does is show how many hits your blog got which is something simple, I dont really need all the bells and whistles and glitter.

In an attempt to help you I have been over to the wordpress.org forum and I have conferred with the other volunteer helping on this forum so I hope you are not implying anything weird via your Capitalized word in your post.

Clearly - we cannot help you :(
We do not know for sure how you can acquire the widget. We believe you may have to join wordpress.com and get a global dashboard to do so.

  12. The plugin is available here for stats run through wordpress.com. There are also crazy amounts of stats plugins available here. That second link has most of the stats plugins for wordpress.org downloaded self-hosted installations.

    Hope that helps.

    Trent

  13. Thanks Trent I'll keep on looking

  14. This was resolved by support from outside of this forum. But Thank you TRENT, as for timethief ? Well ?

  15. @michaelbb
I did the very best I could to answer your questions. And given that none of the volunteers were given any information to go on and that I had to explore the wordpress.org forum for any clues at all I think your cheeky implication is uncalled for. Adding insult to injury, while I was looking for information to answer your question, you had the temerity to use this forum to promote a blog host.

This morning our Moderator drmike provided this additional information.

The available plugins that have been released from the wp.com are available for download from either the automattic.com site or out of the codex. (yes, widgets are there)
    http://automattic.com/projects/
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/
Just point them to those two places and, if those widgets are not there, then they're not available.
If they have a problem with something found here that's not available for release, that's a policy question that needs to be directed towards staff as they've choosen not to release it.

  16. Of course it was resolved without help from this forum. This forum can't help you. We already established that, in our "irrelevant" conversation. Please post your address so that I can mail you a full refund for "your" post.

  17. That is what I also said yesterday in this thread and I am also a moderator.

    Trent

Edit *Rain jumped in and my comment is confusing.....I was referencing the quote from TT about drmike**

  18. @Trent
I was trying hard to be polite. By only referring to drmike's information I did not expose this blogger as failing to read and act on the same information that you provided right here yesterday.

  19. oops! I just misread what you posted, so sorry about that. It makes sense now!

    Trent

  20. No problem .. *sigh* ...
