Blogger import problem

  1. I've managed to import my blog from Blogger into WordPress however the content did not import completely. I can see headings and names of those who commented on each post but no content (or media) in the posts and no content in the comments.
    Can you help out?

The blog I need help with is lightshadeofgreen.wordpress.com.

  2. I have flagged this thread for Staff attention.

  3. Importing from a Blogger export file should work when the direct importer fails like this, but I'll need to completely empty out your blog for that.

Is http://lightshadeofgreen.wordpress.com/ the blog in question, and did it only have imported posts? If so, may we empty it?

  4. Yes. That's right. And you can empty it, no problems. Thanks for looking into this.

  5. I've gone ahead and deleted the blog so that I can try again but the blog name still exists (I suspect its the one that I created not someone else taking the name). I may have caused further problems doing this.

Could you please look into this. I am keen to get started in WordPress....

    Cheers.

  6. As mentioned during the deletion process and all three confirmation steps, you won't be able to re-use the blog name.

Fortunately, your blog was just barely recoverable.

Please try the import again from an export file this time and let us know how it goes.

  7. mmmm....I'm the frustrating kind of customer, aren't I?!

This time the import worked completely. Thanks very much for that.

    Cheers.

  8. You're welcome!

  9. Okay, now that I've finally have wordpress blog up and running I'm now struggling to redirect my blogger visitors and followers to wordpress.
I don't think I can use the plugins because I have the free version...so what is the best way to get the redirection working. I understand there is a service at a price?
Could you please point me in the right direction.

  10. If your Blogger blog has a custom domain, you could point that to your WordPress.com blog: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

Otherwise, there's really no way to redirect visitors from a standard Blogger blog besides just putting up a "I moved" post.
