Boo-Box

  1. Just Checking... have you guys heard about this great upcoming service?
    http://www.boo-box.com
Do you think about implanting it here?

  2. Why don't you give us some details? Nobody's going to support something they know nothing about (well, outside of elections, that is).

The people in this forum are WordPress.com users like yourself. If you want to talk to staff directly, the most efficient way is the Feedback form.

  3. Okay Okay!

I Was checking with the users, if the knew about the boo-box!

Take a look at the site!

  4. No, give us details here. Quite a lot of us are on dialup or whatever and don't have time to research every suggestion made in the forums.

Tell us what it does. Tell us why you want that, and why you think it would be popular. Then those who are intrigued may take a look at the site.

  5. To be honest, I looked at the site and there's no simply defined description of what the thing does.

What I did pick up was something about money:

When you post something you’re influencing your audience, be it of one or 500 people. They are there, listening to what you have to say. At that moment, a banner, sponsored link or a pop-up is very distracting and ruins you conversation.

We believe in the middle of that conversation there’s room for monetizing, room for turning your opinion into money, but in a way that is more of a service to your readers then an interruption.

If I'm reading between the lines correctly this is suggesting pro-blogging (getting paid for blogging) which is against the Terms Of Service for the free accounts on wp.com

I can't see the service being offered here at any time in the medium to long term future.

They might as well allow adsense (/me shudders).

    Collin

  6. Ok, another quick dig suggests it's embedded affiliate linking which is also not allowed.

  7. I Dont Know How To Explain it.. =~~

    Sorry for my bad english.

Boo-box is a "plugin"(i think) that let you "tag" pictures(or texts) on your posts, and the picture(or text) becomes a boo-box link...
Then, when the user clicks the boo-box link, a window(a really cool java window, not pop-up window) show up whit offers about that picture.

You post to tell your readers about the brand new Ipod you just brougth... with a picture.. the user clicks the picture, and he see some offers about ipods. He clicks, buy, and you get paid. Simple as that.

I really dont know how to explain it...
    Just.. see the site..

  8. Oh dear me. It appears someone didn't do their homework and read the FAQs with regard" to advertising, click trackers and affiliate links and javascipt.

boo-box is a cute little virtual box that will take your audience to the wonders of on-line shopping without having to leave your blog, just by clicking on a word or image on it. Every purchase made in a boo-box results in a commission to you thru a affiliate marketing program, currently available on every major on-line store.

    From http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/
Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika and other ads are not permitted to be added by users. Adverts that may be inserted when using an external blogging program will be blocked.

    PayPerPost is not permitted.

Multiple affiliate links are also not permitted. One discreet text link per blog is okay. Any more than that, send a feedback for clarification. Clicktrackers and any promotion of the “I made a million on the internet and so can you” type of advertising are expressly forbidden.

We have a very low tolerance for blogs created purely for search engine optimization or commercial purposes, machine-generated blogs, and will continue to nuke them, so if that’s what you’re interested in WordPress.com is not for you.

  9. "If I'm reading between the lines correctly this is suggesting pro-blogging (getting paid for blogging) which is against the Terms Of Service for the free accounts on wp.com"

    I didnt knew that..

    sorry about this.

  10. No problem and thanks for being gracious. WordPress.com blogs are non-commercial blogs. However, you can download a free blog theme from http://wordpress.org and do as you wish. You can also import your existing blog content from your wordpress.com blog to a new wordpress.org blog.

  11. Anok - no worries.

    Peace and happy blogging! :)
