Border for captioned photos has changed

  1. I was trying to adjust the font size for picture captions (make it smaller), but it just wound up expanding the gray border frame. So I thought I reverted back to the original css settings. But now older posts have the gray border where I added a caption, but my most recent posts have no border, just the caption. I also don't see where I could just click one button to revert to default css.

    Can someone offer guidance as to how I can go about diagnosing/fixing this problem?

    The blog I need help with is schoolpsychscholar.com.

  2. First off, it is not a good idea here at wordpress.com to paste the entire stylesheet into the CSS edit window as it can cause issues, especially with any image links in the CSS. The existing image links are relative, and since your stylesheet isn't saved in the original location, then all the relative links break (what you put into the CSS edit window overrides the existing).

    To revert to the original CSS, delete everything from the CSS edit window, make sure the "add to existing..." button is selected and then click save stylesheet.

    Once you get that done, post back here and we can help with adjusting things for the captions for you.

  3. I don't think I pasted an entire stylesheet in the CSS window. I just tried to changed the font size on the picture caption.

    Right now all that is in the CSS edit window is the 8 lines of generic text WP puts in there, starting with "/* Welcome to Custom CSS!"

    I don't see an "add to existing" button :-(

    Also, when I tried to compare my supposed CSS Revisions (box in the lower right hand corner), the screen turned black and a message came up saying I'm in the Matrix and should follow the white rabbit. Oh. Some kind of inside WP joke?

  4. Also, another weird thing is that in my Edit Post box, the photos have the gray border with the caption. But when I Preview or Publish, the gray border disappears and only the caption is left. Hmmm.

    Although, it occurs to me that perhaps ThemeMin doesn't actually include a border around pictures with a caption in the finished product? Maybe I'm getting confused because the gray border is in the Edit Post preview.

    I can't find a sample post or explanation of ThemeMin anywhere that would confirm or deny this hypothesis....

  5. I don't help with CSS editing like thesacredpath does. But did you know that when you purchased a premium theme part of what you paid for is direct access to the theme designer? That is provided in the Premium Theme Support Forums. Read-access to the premium themes forum is now open to all users so you can search to see if your questions have been previously asked and answered there. The premium theme forums are at http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/ with separate sections for each theme. http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/thememin

  6. Also, when I tried to compare my supposed CSS Revisions (box in the lower right hand corner), the screen turned black and a message came up saying I'm in the Matrix and should follow the white rabbit. Oh. Some kind of inside WP joke?

    That's an Easter egg! :) It happens when you compare a revision to itself.

  7. But now older posts have the gray border where I added a caption, but my most recent posts have no border, just the caption.

    I checked http://schoolpsychscholar.com/ and I couldn't find any captions with borders in the older posts. It's possible I've missed it entirely. Would you mind please linking to a specific post showing the caption and border?

  8. I was trying to adjust the font size for picture captions (make it smaller)

    To make caption text smaller:

    .wp-caption {
    	font-size: 80%;
    }

    Adjust the percentage to your liking.

  9. Also, another weird thing is that in my Edit Post box, the photos have the gray border with the caption. But when I Preview or Publish, the gray border disappears and only the caption is left. Hmmm.

    That's probably normal. The editor doesn't know about custom CSS.
