Bueno Background Image?

  1. Hey everyone,

    Okay, so I've looked over the stickies and have searched the forum but (most likely due to my lack of CSS knowledge) have not found what I'm looking for.

    I'm about to purchase the CSS upgrade as I have been practising with small changes and feel confident in making the most of it. However, for my blog I'm having a background/header image designed for me and I want to know how/if I can put it onto the Bueno theme?

    Any advice would be absolutely superb!

    Many thanks,

    Leon

    The blog I need help with is manmademeals.org.

  2. When you edit the CSS on a theme you not longer use the custom image header uploader. You must plain the link to the header image in the CSS. I also know When you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing. Read this for more info: http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/ That being said, I do not help with CSS so you will have to wait for a Volunteer who does to help you.

    P.S. This is a search string I used to do a forum search:
    Bueno header CSS site:en.forums.wordpress.com
    This is the link to the search results:

  3. Ah, that's excellent. Thanks for the response! I'm reading through it all now - that first link is brilliant.

  4. I'm glad you found the information at that link to be helpful. I forgot to mention that I believe you may also have to link to any background image you use in the CSS, but I'm not sure about that. As I said above, I don't help with CSS.

  5. So, I guess my question now becomes - how can I change the CSS code to allow a background image/header. And can I do this while using the Bueno style?

  6. Sorry but I do not help with CSS so you will have to wait for a Volunteer who does to help you.

  7. Background images are typically placed in the body selector such as below (this is what is there currently on your blog).

    body {
    background: url("brown/bodytile.jpg") repeat scroll left top #FFFFFF;
    }

    You would upload the image to your media library, get the URL of that image and then replace the

    brown/bodytile.jpg

    between the double quote marks with the full URL to your background image.

    If you also have a header image, it would be put into #header similar to what is above.

    #header {
    background: url("URL of header image") no-repeat scroll left top transparent;
    }

    There are likely more changes that will have to be done to the CSS due to the size and nature of the images, but those can't be known till you have the images and we can take a look at them.

  8. Ah, absolutely perfect. I've just upgraded to CSS and also downloaded Firebug.

    Okay, so I need to wait on the design for the logo to be finished first then I'll stick it in and see what happens.

    Thanks for the help!

  9. You are welcome.

  10. You can. I also use the Bueno theme, and although I am not doing a header background, it seems like you can definitely do this.

    Just go to the Blog dashboard, click appearance, then click on either background or header. Try it out! :D

    Please read the whole thread before you post into it. This is a CSS editing question and thesacredpath provided the correct answer and coding above. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/bueno-background-image?replies=10#post-597268
