   I've learnt from other posts how to change the default circle that goes around the date in the bueno theme. I just need to shift it now to the right slightly so it isn't hanging over the #container. Is this possible?

   also, how do I change the highlighted colour of the dropdown options on the menu/page nav?

   Give this a try.

   .post .date {
   margin-left: 45px;
   }
   
   .post .title {
   padding: 0 0 25px 30px;
   }

   Yep, this is it - background color and also the text color when hovered.

   #pagenav li ul a:hover {
   background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #F3686D;
   color: #FFFFFF !important;
   }
