Calling All Fiction Writers

  1. Hey guys,

I'll be hosting a web fiction festival over at Cheap Ass Fiction starting this weekend (the 14th) where I will be spotlighting some great webfics and webfic authors with excerpts, reviews, (email) interviews, and guest posts. I've already got a handful of great authors lined up, but since I can't possibly read all the fiction on here, I know there are more around that I've overlooked.

So I'm putting out a call to any writers who might want to showcase their talents in the upcoming week or two--newbies, pros or anything in between! You can showcase a your stories, or works-in-progress, or tell us about an upcoming project.

    Don't be shy!

The blog I need help with is cheapassfiction.com.

I'd like to! I'm working on a short horror story, penned around 3k at the minute. But it sounds awesome. If you need some more newbies, I can send it around our Inkwell forum?

Really I just wanna read everyone elses stuff! =D

  3. Cool. Come on over! Just put up the first author.

And I love horror stories, so I'd love to take a look at yours! Are you going to put it up on your blog at any point soon (or did I miss it?) If it isn't ready now, I am hoping to do another one of these things later (perhaps even make it a monthly, or every--other--month type of thing, if it is successful.)

I'll have to head over to the Inkwell. I just lurked for a bit after signing up, but I really need to dive in--been crazy busy the last few weeks, writing and reading web fics and coming up with interesting questions to ask authors (the "How long have you been writing?" is a bit worn out, I think.) But I could use a couple more newbies, it's great to have a mix--better to get conversation going and get some different voices. So if you want to put the word out there, that'd be great!

I may go show my face over there now...

  4. Is very short story included?

Did you show your face Aelius?
Anyway, I've let others know on the forum, and provided them with your blog link, so we shall see. :)

My horror story isn't nearly ready enough to be submitted, but it is on the Inkwell, and entitled 'Seeing Red' if you want to read/comment/add your two cents!

I do have another short story, you'd probably mark it as a 'thriller', entitled Sid, it deals with schizophrenia and is based entirely in letter format - if you are interested in that? It's technically finished but there's always room for more improvement.

Very short stories are definitely included! I even love twitterfic (fiction short enough to fit in a tweet) and yours aren't even that short. I'm also interested in including authors from around the world because the web fiction community is truly global and it would be great to reflect that.

I'd like to talk about including you in the festival. I looked around your site for a "contact me" but couldn't find any. Should I leave a message on your message board and talk there?

I'd definitely be interested. I love unusual formats in fiction!

  8. @aeliusblythe I'm sorry I don't leave email address in my blog because I hate spam emails. Yes you can leave message in my message board or here is my mail > sweet(underscore)kame(underscore)chan(at)yahoo.com

I never knew there are stories through twitter. Would you like to see a sample of my story?
So far, my stories are based of pictures provided by a site called creative writing ink. I am trying (will start writing it when school holiday starts next week) to write something related to a tradition in my country. That would be my first that doesn't depend on creative writing ink.

Thanks for the subscription. Will return the favor once I have time to turn on my PC (I use my mobile more often than PC)

  9. Ok, I totally get the spam thing. I hate spam. Funny that I don't actually get much, though I have my email up on my blog. Maybe I just have a good spam filter.

I think stories based on pictures and prompts are great. It's always interesting how people can look at the same picture and come up with different stories.

That would be really interesting! I am actually hoping to do this festival thing periodically throughout the year--it's started off great actually. So maybe by next time you may feel like sharing this!

  10. If I can finish it by the end of the month, I will share it with you :)

Actually, I will publish my new story this coming Friday. I want to share it earlier but I can't because today and tomorrow are special for my country's independence day

  11. Here is my latest short,if you are interested http://bokunosekai.wordpress.com/2011/08/18/which-smile-lies-underneath/
