I suspect it's all part of a larger general trend--for me and most women I know, that's probably the one body part whose appearance we rarely think about beyond essential hygiene. (My reasoning is that anyone who sees that body part is either a trained medical professional or had better be at least somewhat fond of me). Now waxing is practically de rigeur, and some women are having surgery to make the area more appealing or to conform to porn standards, probably the stupidest reason for doing something in the history of the world. So, now women's crotches have an ideal to live up to, just like women's legs and breasts and butts and you name it. This can't end well.

What a fascinating discussion. I'm totally unable to offer anything valuable. I feel the need to comment, yet am frightened to enter what I will call "the nutsacker" (as it is 12/25 in some areas of the world).
