Can anybody tell me how to stop porn sites from linking to my blog?

  1. Lately I have started getting incoming links from porn sites. Is there a way to get rid of these links? If there's a pingback, I can disallow pings. But what if there's no pingback, and its just an incoming link from a trashy site that I would prefer not to link to me?

If anybody in WordPress administration is reading this and can accommodate this request, I would like to have blocked the Australian "dating" site that just came in and also a similar Brazilian site that linked to me in the past couple of weeks. Thanks.

  2. You cannot control who links to you online any more than you can control who talks about you offline. If someone is stealing your content you can threaten them, as US law protects copyright; generally either nothing happens OR their Internet Service Provider cuts them off and/or deletes their site.

  3. Thanks, Raincoaster. That's what I was afraid of. I have an additional suggestion for dealing with stolen content or copyright violations.

I found that another blog had picked up an entire post of mine and was selling ads against it. And I couldn't find an address for the blogger orthe agency supposedly handling the ads. So I reported the blog to Technorati and asked it to delist the blog. (On the Technorati home page, there's an electronic form that lets you report copyright violations and similar offenses.) I don't know what, if anything, Technorati did. But not long afterward, I saw that the blogger had edited the post and was quoting only a paragraph, followed by a link to my blog, which was okay with me.

  4. Even just a paragraph offends some folks.

Actually amazed thta you got a response out of Technorati. They're hard to get a response out of quite often.
