can each post be indexed (by bing) as if its a page?

  1. I find that a post will be indexed in google or bing, but when I click on the link, I go to the main blog page, which means that the user sees a totally different post, and has to scroll down to see the one he wanted.
Is there a way around this?

The blog I need help with is cooljews.wordpress.com.

  2. Can you give me a specific example? Link to the Google page, not the actual post.

  3. http://www.bing.com/search?q=rowse+vansitaart+london+times&go=&qs=n&sk=&first=31&FORM=PORE

The post from unheededwarnings.wordpress.com in the above search goes to the wrong page - namely the entire blog.
I'm not sure if the above link of bing is specifiying the third page of results, but thats where the link is.

  4. That search literally only goes to this thread.

In Google a search for your blog URL brings up this:

    http://www.google.ca/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=unheededwarnings.wordpress.com+

And clicking on the first post (rather than blog) link brings up the correct post. Same with this post: http://unheededwarnings.wordpress.com/2011/07/07/why-americans-did-not-believe-in-the-holocaust-while-it-was-happening/ The Google link goes directly to that page. I'm afraid I can't help you, because I can't duplicate the problem.

  5. Google works fine, but its BING that is the problem. Again, if you go to:
    http://www.bing.com/search?q=rowse+vansitaart+london+times&go=&qs=n&sk=&first=31&FORM=PORE
You will see a list of BING results. One of them is for the unheededwarnings.wordpress.com site. You click on that, and you go to a posting which is on "chronic fatigue syndrome". Note that the bing search has nothing to do with "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" and instead is for another posting (on WWII) on my blog.

  6. Gidmeister, I couldn't replicate your problem either, or your search results, but I tried BING searching on my own web site and if I clicked on a link I went straight to the post, not the main page.

I could find your web site at all in a search for "vansitaart london times" although it did return a link to this thread.

  7. I have seen similar results with a new Post - just after the Post was Posted the search link went to the main page of my site and then after a while the link goes straight to the Post - never gave it much thought other than "hmmm this is interesting" - chalked it up to being an undocumented "feature" of Google.
