can i add widgets to my Balloons theme

  1. I have the Balloons theme and I think (?) it only allows 3 widgets along the bottom. Can I more to my sidebar with a paid upgrade or would I have to change Themes?

The blog I need help with is bleeckerstreetdiaries.com.

  2. Some themes are not designed to have sidebar widgets and this theme description indicates only footer widgets are in the design. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/balloons/

You can either change themes or, if you are adept at CSS editing. you can purchase an annually renewable custom Design upgrade and do the required CSS editing to create a sidebar.

  3. Thanks so much! If I purchase the Custom Design Upgrade for $30 per year (per blog) now and then decide to change my theme down the road will I still have access to the Custom Design Upgrade features or will I have buy again per theme?

  4. The upgrade is in effect for one blog and for one year only when it's due for renewal. if you do not renew the blog reverts to the normal theme display ie. your CSS editing will be gone.

You can change themes as often as you wish but CSS editing is theme specific. If you have custom CSS and later change themes, you need to delete whatever CSS you have in the Editor, otherwise, you’ll get undesired results.

To ‘reset’ a theme, you need to delete the CSS in the Editor, make sure the “add to existing CSS” radio button is checked, then save. Things should go back to normal.

When you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing.
