Can I change my username to a subdomain I already own?

  1. I'm ready to switch from a self-hosted installation WordPress to WordPress.com (which I should have done a long time ago). There is one final small issue.

I'm changing my username everywhere on the Internet from matthewsim to simoneau. I know about the "change username" feature, but it doesn't work for me because simoneau is "taken". I think it is taken because I'm already squatting on simoneau.wordpress.com. If that is so, that is this username isn't actually taken but the change is blocked because I've already taken simoneau.wordpress.com, can you help me make this switch? I'd like my username change from matthewsim to simoneau to propagate to Gravitar and IntenseDebate as well.

Sorry for the long message. I appreciate any help you can give me on this.
    Blog url: http://simoneau.wordpress.com/

  2. If you want I can make the change for you. Please provide me another e-mail address (one that's not registered at WordPress.com), this way I can use that to register a new account under the name: simoneau.

  3. Yes, please.

That new account username @gmail.com is an address of mine and would be perfect. (I don't want to spell it out in a public forum for spam purposes.)

Thanks for your reply. It's so refreshing to be able to get support on a huge site like this. What a great company!

  4. I've created the simoneau user and added it as an administrator to the simoneau.wordpress.com blog. You should receive an email from WordPress.com with details on the username and password.

  5. I'm in business! Thanks for your help!
