Can I delete an address and then move another site to that address?

  • I started a blog at one address, but decided I wanted a different one. So I created a new blog at the new address, thinking I would have to transfer everything to the new address by hand.

But then I noticed that WordPress has a built-in feature for transferring to a new address, so I could have just done that. But I’ve already created the new address, so I can’t transfer. When I go to delete the address I’ve just created, it warns me that if I do that “I can never get its content or its address back.”

Does that mean that I won’t be able to transfer to that address after deleting it?

(For clarity, these are the sites I’m talking about: I want to move EinsteinUnderYourNose.wordpress.com to
    MiraclesUnderYourNose.wordpress.com . But I’ve already created miraclesunderyournose so I can’t transfer.)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Do not delete teh address. If you delete it, then it is gone for good. Permanently and irreversibly. And if it’s gone, you can’t transfer anything to it, can you?

Just transfer the CONTENTS to where you want them to be, by creating an Export file on the dashboard of the blog you want to export from, and Importing it on the dashboard of the blog you want the content on.

  • Would it have been different if I had just done the “change address” thing?

Importing my content doesn’t import followers from my old address, does it?
