Can I edit my home page so that it only shows a small section of each blog post?

  1. I'm sick of having people click on my Home Page but not actually click on any of my blog posts. It lowers my number of views and stops people from liking or commenting on it.

Is there any way I can make it so that they just get a snippet on each blog post, so that they have to click on the actual post to read it? I've had a look around my 'Appearance' section but I can't find anything that allows this...

The blog I need help with is arbitrarynonsense.wordpress.com.

  2. If you want even more control over what your readers see on your front page, then you could consider switching to a theme that supports custom excerpts, either on the front page or for archives/category pages:

and note this work around using themes with the gallery format:

Also, even in (some???—have not personally tested most) themes which don't have an active custom excerpt function, subscribers via email and rss will get a version on your posts with a custom excerpt.

  3. Brilliant! Thank you very much.
