Can I group pages?

  1. WordPress.com helps me to add as many pages as I want in my blog. However, I want to segregate different pages under separate heads, like "Economy", "Agriculture", "Industry" and so on. I also want that these heads should be displayed either in the sidebar or in the menu beneath the header. I know posts can have have such categories, but I want the same facility for pages. Is it possible? Is there any template which can help me do that. I dont know any html editing, that makes my task difficult. Can you help me?

The blog I need help with is gujaratwatch.wordpress.com.

  2. Provided that you change to a theme that does have the custom menus feature you can achieve what you want to do.

Have you ever wanted to have a different title for one of your pages than the label displayed in your site’s navigation?
Ever wanted to change the order of the list of pages to an order you chose yourself?
Ever wanted to be able to mix pages, categories, and random links in your navigation instead of your theme deciding for you?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’re in luck! The new custom menus feature will do all those things.

The themes that have this feature are listed here along with instructions for setting up a custom menu. Currently, the following themes have this feature enabled: Twenty Ten, Structure, Vostok, Bueno, Enterprise, Notepad, Paperpunch, MistyLook, Under the Influence, Vigilance, Greyzed, Wu Wei, Blix, Freshy, Contempt, Ambiru, Digg3, Koi, Modularity Lite, Coraline, Oulipo, Ocean Mist, Tarski, Rounded, Albeo, Regulus, Andrea, Inuit Types, K2 Lite, iNove, and Fusion. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

You must switch to one of these themes if you're interested in header tabs with dropdowns. But you can use the same feature in virtually any theme in association with the Custom Menu widget for your sidebar. Or you can turn your pages into child pages to "Economy", "Agriculture" etc. parent pages; child pages will show up indented under their parent in the Pages widget.
