Can I have a sidebar image?

  1. Is it possible to place an image in the sidebar? I tried it vía a test box but it didn't work. Do I need to have WordPress.org?

The blog I need help with is knittingdoc.wordpress.com.

  2. looks like you have already put an image into your sidebar, so what do mean?

  3. Yes. Make a new text widget, then copy and paste a picture html code into the text box. You can get these from photo-upload sites such as flickr or photobucket.

  4. Plain image:
    <img src="URL_HERE"></a>

    Image linking to a webpage:
    <a href="URL_OF_WEBPAGE_HERE"><img src="URL_OF_IMAGE_HERE"></a>

Of course the image has to be narrow enough to fit in the sidebar.

If it's an image hosted elsewhere, it's better to copy it and upload it in your blog first (otherwise you get the delay of the other site loading as well).

  5. I used to beable to put an image that I have uploaded to my blog in my sidebar by pasting the code in, but now I can't find the code. What happened? I thought I had all of this figured out & then the all the changes were made & I'm lost again.

  6. The easiest way to put an image in your sidebar is to write a draft, just like a regular post. Add image as usual, but be careful to make it narrow enough to fit the sidebar. Switch from the visual editor to the html editor and copy all the code. Paste the code into a text widget and you should be good to go.
